By providing a nice collection of templates and a set of user friendly editing tools, the RonyaSoft-developed application Poster Designer makes it quite easy to come up with a professional looking poster or a poster that will put a smile on people’s faces.

To get started with Poster Designer, you will have to download an 18.3MB archive off the web and onto your machine. Extract the contents of the archive, run the executable, and after you click through a fairly simple setup wizard, you will be ready to start using Poster Designer. It must be mentioned that the setup wizard asks you to choose one of several supported languages.

When you start Poster Designer, the application presents you with a prompt that asks you what you want to do: start from a template, start from a blank document, or open a previous document. Pick “Start from template” and you will be presented with a very nice selection of templates, grouped into categories such as Holiday, Event, Funny, and Backgrounds.

On Poster Designer’s interface (you can use themes to change how the interface looks), you will see the selected template front and center. To the left, above, and below, there are buttons for the application’s editing capabilities, buttons you can use to design the poster as you see fit. You can change the image, you can edit the text, you can add clipart, you can draw freehand, you can insert lines, you can rotate the image, and so on.

Two things stand out in regard to the functionality Poster Designer has to offer. The first is that it comes with a very nice selection of posters. Feel free to browse through them all until you find one that suits your needs; then load it and edit it as you see fit. The second refers to Poster Designer’s editing capabilities. Everything is nicely laid out, nothing is too difficult to figure out, in little time you will be able to come up with the design that you want.

Poster Designer is only free to try, it is not freeware. Once you’re done with a poster, you can export it as a JPG image. The trial version will put a watermark on the output – except if you go with the small image size.

It is incredibly easy to come up with a poster because Poster Designer puts a nice selection of templates at your disposal and doesn’t make the editing process unnecessarily complicated.

Pros

Poster Designer comes with a nice selection of templates. It is quite easy to edit a template to make it suit your needs. Export the poster as a JPG. The application features a user friendly interface. Provides support for multiple languages. Themes are supported.

Cons

The trial puts a watermark on the output.
